I am so excited to announce that my new romantic suspense, Escape To Mulligan Lake, is now available on Amazon. Marni is an elementary school teacher who discovers she has a stalker. She's not sure who to trust or who to turn to, including the policeman who has just entered her life and her dreams.
Stalking has become a hot topic in recent years with laws lagging in some cases far behind modern reality. Some stalkers remain background annoyances, some become physically dangerous. All leave their victims with a sense of vulnerability and fear. Questions arise about the balance between freedom of expression versus freedom from harassment. Where do we draw the line? This is especially true with the proliferation of social media. The inability of some law fixtures to take stalking seriously and their reaction to "blame the victim" is reminiscent of the early days of rape laws. We hear about celebrity victims of stalkers but your neighbourhood grocery clerk, your local florist or even your next-door neighbour could be unknown victims.
In Marni's case, her stalker has psychological issues that go back to his childhood, but his outward persona is one of normalcy.
Her reaction is to flee to safety but will her stalker follow?
